Welcome back to your seat at Dawn's kitchen table with her mom and two older sisters. You heard them HILF in EP#34, now you're a fly on the wall as the discuss their family history! You'll hear about the time Mom found a bong in Dawn's dorm room; Anne's encounter with a naked neighbor after her car broke down; and Lisa - the only person I know who got hit by a deer... you read that right.
On March 29th, 2023 I released EP#34 - The Vibrator, with my mom and two older sisters as my guests. It went bananas - broke the podcast's download record and yielded a slew of comments from listers telling me they felt like they knew us. And those who actually do know us, said they felt like we were all back around the Thanksgiving table just like the old days.
What happened to us when we sat down together, I think, is what happens to all friends and family who are fortunate enough to reconnect - you naturally reminisce. Tell old stories.
And when you do, you're sharing your own HILFs. The history that you want to go back to, highlight, cement, celebrate, mourn, clarify. I think we revisit our own personal history for the same reason we do humanity’s - because it brings us closer to each other, it reveals things about ourselves and helps us navigate this complicated journey of life on earth.
